Abstract − The availability of realistic channel models that truly capture the temporal and spatial structure of the mobile radio channel in a given propagation environment is a major requirement for the detailed performance assessment of spacetime adaptive receivers. This paper presents a novel measurement-based parametric approach for modelling the double-directional mobile radio channel. Applying a multidimensional high-resolution parameter estimation procedure, sets of descriptive parameters for any relevant propagation path in a specific scenario can be extracted from broadband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel sounding data. Then, from the estimated parameter sets a local reconstruction of the multidimensional wave fields in the vicinity of the measured aperture volumes in time, space and frequency is performed. Since the properties of the measurement antennas are excluded from the channel this way, synthetic channel impulse responses for various application-specific array architectures within the reconstructed wave fields can be derived. This builds the basis for manifold analyses and simulations of MIMO transmission links in a realistic way.

Double Directional Channel — Measurements and Data Analysis, Stochastic Modeling and Deterministic Prediction
This paper reviews the double directional channel models mainly for MIMO applications. First, the double directional channel measurements and data analysis are presented, to extract the antenna-independent propagation channel model from the MIMO channel measurement via the parametric modeling and estimation. Next, stochastic modeling approaches are introduced for the link-level simulation for t...
متن کاملMimo Channel Sounding and Double-directional Modelling
In this paper a parametric measurement approach for double-directional modelling of radio channels is introduced. It is based on broadband real-time MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) channel sounding measurements which use multiple antennas at both the transmitter and the receiver site. A subsequent super-resolution estimation step determines the polarisation resolved path weights, time-del...

This paper presents a novel parametric Ultrawideband (UWB) channel model to characterize frequency dependency of small scale fading. The model is based on electromagnetic diffraction mechanism, which is a major factor of frequency dependent fading in UWB systems, geometric theory of diffraction, and scattering center analysis.
